We are excited to have our first app be published in the iTunes Store. It’s a simple app called Font Combinations that lets you see how different header and body fonts relate to each other with a simple swipe. So many fonts, so little time!
You can explore design options for a new project, for your own learning, or perhaps just play with it over lunch when you are sharing cool graphic design apps on your iPhone with your other graphic design compadres. Creating new typeface pairs is as simple as swiping the header or body copy to the left or right. There are over 2000 font combinations possible in this version.

The iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) was also, in the end, a lot of fun to work with. More on that later too! By the way, if you have basic to intermediate coding skills, you could pick up iPhone development without too much pain.

I purchased this app and felt a little disappointed. I like the big library of fonts but after that I think it can be greatly improved. First off I thought the app would suggest font combinations for you. Scrolling to the left and right to see what fits is ok, but some preset selections would be good. I thought that a “feeling lucky” button would be cool too so there can be another way the app can help you find a combination. Also when you have scrolled all the way over to the right or left, you have to manually scroll all the way back. There should be a button that takes you to each. The font library is great, but I wish it would offer a little help besides scrolling back and forth. Lastly I feel that big button to your upcoming book is a bit too much. That should be in an about page. This is good space for the extra buttons I mentioned above. Good start!
Hi Marco: I thought the description was pretty clear that it’s up to the user to explore – which is the whole point of the app.
I really like the idea of a “feeling lucky” button. I think we can manage that in the next update. We’ll make space for that button when we move the book link to the about page, as you’ve suggested :).
For how it works now, I hope you take advantage of the classic set of fonts included in the app. Too many fonts, too little time!
